The Model 401E Swingdown Gage provides automatic grinder control based on real-time workpiece size. In applications where only one gage head is required, the 401E is typically used with a Model 760 Gaging Monitor. Multiple 401E’s can be used with either a DGM900 series moni tor or the DGM3000 Monitor. The gage can be applied to the workpiece automatically, through use of a hydraulic actuator, or manually, with a spring assisted mount, as shown in the picture to the left.

An extended range version of the 401E called the 401EX measures mul t iple diameters within a .150” range. The Model 401EX is typically used for gaging mul t iple diameters on stepped shafts.

Standard calipers are available for workpieces ranging in size from .25” to 7”. A standard caliper measures smooth surface parts within a 1” range.

Two adjustable calipers are available: one measures parts ranging from .37” to 3”, the other measures parts ranging from 1.75” to 6”. The gage can also measure interrupted surface parts. On interrupted parts, a caliper dedicated to the specific part size is required. Gage repeatability with a standard caliper is guaranteed to be .000040”.
